Ignacio possesses more than two decades of hands-on international experience across five continents analyzing tourism in a multidisciplinary approach, from both the private and the public sector. Over the years, Ignacio has developed a particular interest for international development cooperation, destination management, vocational training, world-class hospitality in developing countries, sustainability and circularity in the tourism sector and more recently, on technology and tourism innovation.
Ignacio holds a Master’s as well as a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Geneva, with a focus on global ecology and sustainable development. Furthermore, he has volunteered for the World Tourism Organization in Bhutan and Turkey and is a trainer certified by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.
Ignacio is currently the Head of Global Partnerships & Tourism Innovation at the Technology Centre ‘Eurecat’. In addition, he is the Manager of the Centre of Excellence in Tourism Innovation, a public-private partnership focusing on promoting innovation, sustainability and talent among 26 entities across Catalonia.
Ignacio’s vast international and multicultural exposure has provided him an exceptional professional network which includes training institutions, international operators, hotel chains, development agencies, DMO etc. Ignacio is a polyvalent, multi-skilled and multilingual tourism professional who adapts easily to any working and living environment.
