Joan Colón, Head of the Sustainability Accounting and Optimization Unit, BETA Tech Center / UVic-UCC
Dr. Joan Colón is a Biologist, PhD in Environmental Science and Technology. He is the Scientific Coordinator of BETA Technological Center. His scientific interest is about biological treatment of solid wastes (e.g. composting, anaerobic digestion, biodrying), the treatment of gaseous pollutants and odors (e.g. biofiltration, chemical absorption) and the environmental evaluation and optimization of waste treatment technologies and industrial processes (e.g. LCA, carbon footprint, water footprint). He is the scientific coordinator of the Interreg MED ZeroCO2MED carbon footprint project and he has been involved in the Interreg MED DestiMED PLUS project on developing socio-economic indicators for the assessment of eco-tourism packages.
