Julien Le Tellier is a geographer and has joined the UN Environment Programme/Mediterranean Action Plan (UNEP/MAP) – Barcelona Convention Secretariat in Athens, Greece, in June 2017, as Programme Management Officer in charge of Socio-Economic Affairs. As the substantive officer providing secretariat services to the Mediterranean Commission on Sustainable Development, which is the multi-stakeholder advisory body of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention, his activities aim at supporting the implementation and follow-up of the Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development (MSSD) 2016-2025. This position follows his long engagement in the work of the MAP system at the Plan Bleu Regional Activity Centre in Marseille, France, where he worked for 8 years as Sustainable Development Programme Officer. Julien holds a PhD (2006) from Aix-Marseille University, France, and a post-PhD (2007) in Rabat, Morocco, in Geography and Urban Planning.
