Konstantina Tsakopoulou works at the Ministry of Tourism of Greece. She is Head of the Department for Research Studies and Documentation in the Directorate for Research and is currently working for the establishment of the Research and Monitoring Centre for Coastal and Maritime Tourism in the Mediterranean.
She holds a PhD in Human Geography from Harokopio University of Athens. Her thesis explores the challenges of creating synergies between tourism and the local agrifood sector, taking culinary tourism in Santorini as a case study.
She also holds a degree in Linguistics from the National and Capodistrian University of Athens (1996) and an Msc in Human Geography from Harokopion University in Athens (2013). She is a graduate of the National School of Public Administration from the Department of Tourism economy and development (2010).
Her research interests lie in sustainable tourism development, tourism value chains, public policies, culinary tourism, local development and insularity.
